Sports Injury Gold Coast
Rapid diagnosis. Advanced imaging. Precision treatment when it is needed.
Pain is not the diagnosis
An injury should be diagnosed before it is treated.
A sports injury can involve bone, cartilage, ligament, tendon, muscle, joint or nerve — and very different injuries can produce similar pain.
At MBR Health, sports injury care begins with establishing what has been injured and how severely. Advanced 3T MRI, ultrasound, Spectral CT and X-ray are selected according to the clinical question, with specialist radiologist interpretation and precision image-guided treatment available where appropriate.
The aim is not simply to reduce pain. It is to establish the diagnosis first, identify what may heal conservatively and determine whether targeted treatment is actually required.
THE MBR HEALTH DIFFERENCE
More Than Just Sports Injury Imaging
The best treatment pathway starts with the correct diagnosis.
MBR Health combines advanced imaging, specialist radiologist interpretation and precision image-guided treatment within the same clinic — allowing the injury to be defined before treatment is selected.
Diagnosis first. Precision treatment second.
- Diagnosis Before Treatment
Sports injuries can involve bone, cartilage, ligament, tendon, muscle or nerve. The imaging pathway is selected according to the injury — not simply according to which machine is available.
- Advanced 3T Sports Injury MRI
Selected joint protocols include high-resolution 3D source imaging, including sub-0.5 mm acquisition where appropriate for detailed ligament, cartilage and soft-tissue assessment.
- Specialist Radiologist Review
Imaging is interpreted within a specialist radiology environment with experience in musculoskeletal diagnosis, orthopaedic anatomy and image-guided intervention.
- MRI, Ultrasound & Spectral CT
MRI, ultrasound, CT or X-ray can be selected according to the anatomy and clinical question rather than forcing every sports injury into a single imaging modality.
- Precision Image-Guided Treatment
When an injection is appropriate, ultrasound or CT guidance is selected according to the anatomical target. Why Image-Guided PRP Matters.
- Digital Record of Needle Placement
Where technically possible, MBR Health retains permanent digital documentation of final needle placement so the treatment can be reviewed later. MBR Health How Do I Know If My Injection Was in the Right Spot?
- Quantified PRP When Appropriate
MBR Health measures platelet concentration using a dedicated platelet counter so the PRP dose can be quantified rather than assumed. MBR Health Why Platelet Dose Matters
Specialist Sports Injury Imaging & Image-Guided Treatment
MBR Health is a specialist radiology practice. Sports injury assessment begins by matching the right imaging modality to the suspected injury, then considering treatment only where there is a clear clinical and anatomical target.
This allows diagnosis, imaging and selected image-guided treatment to sit within one integrated pathway.
Advanced 3T MRI for Sports Injuries
MRI can provide detailed assessment of ligaments, menisci, cartilage, tendons, muscles, bone marrow and occult bone injury.
Selected joint protocols include high-resolution 3D source imaging for detailed multiplanar assessment. Read more on Advanced 3T MRI.
Ultrasound for Tendon, Muscle & Dynamic Injury
High-resolution ultrasound can assess superficial tendons, muscles, bursae and selected ligaments dynamically, while also providing real-time guidance for many musculoskeletal procedures. Read more on specialist ultrasound.
Spectral CT & X-Ray for Bone Injury
X-ray and Spectral CT may provide more useful information when the clinical question involves fracture, avulsion injury, cortical bone, calcification or post-operative hardware.
Image-Guided Sports Injury Treatment
Where treatment is appropriate, ultrasound or CT guidance can be selected according to the target. Options may include local anaesthetic, corticosteroid and selected PRP or regenerative procedures. Read more on Why Image-Guidance Matters in PRP.
Earlier diagnosis. Earlier decisions.
Rapid Sports Injury MRI Pathway
For selected acute sports injuries, MBR Health can provide a rapid privately funded MRI pathway following clinical triage.
MRI is not automatically the correct first examination for every injury, so the imaging modality is selected according to the clinical question. Patients requiring a Medicare rebate still need an eligible imaging request.
Why Our Sports Injury Assessment Is Different
The useful part of sports imaging is correlation.
An MRI abnormality does not automatically explain pain or determine treatment. The imaging needs to be interpreted against the mechanism of injury, anatomical location, functional deficit and sporting demands.
MBR Health can select MRI, ultrasound, CT or X-ray according to the question and use the result to help define the appropriate next step.

Precision delivery is part of treatment quality.
When an injection is appropriate, the guidance technique should match the target.
Ultrasound provides real-time guidance for many tendons, ligaments and joints, while CT can provide detailed cross-sectional guidance for selected deep or complex targets.
Where technically possible, MBR Health also retains permanent digital documentation of final needle placement.
“The fastest route back to sport is not always the fastest treatment. It starts with knowing exactly what has been injured.”

Depending on the injury, that may involve MRI, ultrasound, X-ray or Spectral CT — followed by conservative care, rehabilitation, image-guided treatment or specialist referral where appropriate.
