A 3T brain MRI provides high-resolution structural imaging of the brain without ionising radiation.

It may help assess brain volume, regional atrophy, vascular injury, white matter change, previous silent infarcts, mass lesions, inflammatory patterns and other structural findings relevant to neurological health.

Volumetric Brain MRI

Volumetric brain MRI uses quantitative analysis to measure selected brain structures and compare them with age-adjusted reference ranges.

This may include hippocampal volume, cortical grey matter, ventricular size and regional asymmetry. These measurements can help establish a baseline and monitor change over time.

Volumetric analysis is not a standalone diagnosis. It must be interpreted with symptoms, clinical history, risk factors and specialist review.

Best for:

Dementia & Alzheimer’s Risk Assessment

Brain MRI and volumetric analysis can identify structural patterns that may be associated with neurodegenerative conditions, including hippocampal or medial temporal volume loss.

This can support assessment of cognitive risk, but it does not diagnose Alzheimer’s disease by itself and does not replace specialist neurological assessment, cognitive testing, amyloid PET, tau PET or biomarker pathways where clinically indicated.

What is SyMRI?

SyMRI is a quantitative MRI platform that can generate measurements of tissue characteristics such as grey matter, white matter, cerebrospinal fluid and myelin-related parameters. In selected cases, these measurements may support assessment of demyelination, tissue integrity and neurological disease patterns.

Is brain MRI radiation-free?

Yes. Brain MRI does not use ionising radiation. MRI uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency pulses to generate images, making it different from CT. Some MRI examinations may use contrast depending on the clinical question, but many brain health and screening protocols can be performed without contrast.

Can brain MRI assess stroke risk?

Brain MRI can show previous silent infarcts, white matter disease and other structural changes relevant to vascular brain health.
